"Death and Nightingales" (A Mysterious Ashley Review)

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!!

I have another interesting and kind of different book for yall today. "Death and Nightingales" by Eugene McCabe, is a richly enchanting work of art full of mystery. This book takes place in Ireland, which not only gives the reader a beautiful scene, but works you into the mystery even further.

Here is the summary taken straight from Goodreads.....

"It is 1883 and against the fearsome beauty of the Fermanagh landscape, the fate of Beth Winters slowly unfolds. Beth is determined to decide her own destiny yet seems doomed to repeat the tragic mistakes of her family. Through the events of the day of her twenty-fifth birthday, decades of pain and betrayal finally build to a devastating climax. In this powerful and gripping novel McCabe creates a lyrical indictment of the tensions that tear both families and nations apart."

Beth, is a young woman, who is in love with a boy her family doesn't know she is seeing. Her mother is dead and her step-father never really wanted her. The events from the past come into light and Beth is faced with losing herself and the guy she loves. Will she be able to live her life the way she wants or is she doomed to live the fate that her mother lived?

This is such an original, that I honestly can't compare it to anything, which is always a good thing. I came by this book in Half-Price books and didn't know what I would think of it at first. From the second I started reading it, I fell in love with the characters and the mystery that surrounds them. The author also has points of views from different characters, that way instead of seeing it through one character's eyes you can see it through multiple.

I know that sometimes when an author tries to do multiple points of view it can get confusing, but with this book it is so elegantly written, that you will never get confused about what is going on with the characters. If you love a thrilling mystery then this book will have you glued to the pages. There is a little religious aspect to it, but it is important for the mystery of the book.

Happy Reading!!!!

Rating: 4/5 beautiful oceans located in Ireland........
