"Vampire Academy" (A Biting Ashley Review)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

I will be spending my day at work and then having sister V-day with Alexis, like we do every year. Which just goes to show, girls you don't have to have a guy to celebrate Valentine's Day with, just grab some girls and go out and have fun. Today I am going to be reviewing the first book in the Vampire Academy series, "Vampire Academy" by the always talented Richelle Mead, which just came out in theatres a week ago today. I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait to see how much the movie stuck to the book.

Here is the summary taken straight from Goodreads.....

"St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever."

Contrary to what "Twilight" made you believe about vampires, "Vampire Academy" is filled with full blooded vampires and Dhampir, which is half human half vampire. The vampires have didn't types of magical powers that they are learning to control and the Dhampirs, train to be their body guards, by relying on their inhuman strength.

I read the entire series and was pulled in from the first book. With the movie I can't tell how many books it goes through by the previews, but I hope some of my favourite parts are in it. I will admit the books did kind of stop dropping in the middle of the series and you kind of want to slap some of the really annoying characters. The last book is really good though, but you would have to read the entire series to understand what it actually going on. If your into teenage vampires then you will probably like this book, but there is also a good amount of fighting and adventure that is sure to keep you entertained.

Till Next Time!!!!

Ashley

Rating: 3/5 Vampire Academy movie posters.....
