"Sisters Red" (Ashley's Review)

"Who's afraid of the big, bad werewolf?" With a tag line like this what fairytale lover wouldn't be sucked in by this book, plus the cover drew me to it as well. It's a must read for all fairytale lovers especially if you love reading interesting takes on the fairy tales we grew up with.

"Sisters Red" by Jackson Pearce

Here is a summary of this thrilling new twist on Red Riding Hood.....

"Scarlett and Rosie March have spent years hunting the Fenris- werewolves who took Scarlett's eye in a brutal attack years ago. Donning blood-red cloaks and wielding deadly hatchets, the sisters kill Fenris to protect other young girls from a grisly fate. Yet even as the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is lethal with an ax and is Scarlett's only friend- but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?"

I got hooked just by reading that when I first picked up this book. Jackson Pearce does an awesome job re telling Red Riding Hood, without going too far from the original story. Scarlett and Rosie are two bad ass (forgive my french) women who will stop at nothing to save pretty, naive girls from this werewolves, which Pearce calls Fenris. Silas is a sexy woodsman who helps the sisters fight these monsters. This book is one wild ride after another. It is so cool to see how it turns out and how the characters deal with the many twists that are thrown at them. The great thing about this book is it is the first part of a series. She also has out "Sweetly", which is a retelling of Hansel and Gretal and "Fathomless", which is a retelling of Little Mermaid. The great thing is the other stories follow Silas's siblings and I can't wait to see which story she re tells next. I hope the other books will kinda have the other characters from previous books in them so you can have a follow up.

Until we met again tomorrow......Happy Reading!!!!!

After Reading: You might want to watch the movie Red Riding Hood that came out a couple of years ago or just re read the original version of Little Red Riding Hood. But I can guarantee if you read "Sisters Red" you will want to read the other books to this series just to see what is going to happen. You don't have to read them in the order they came out, but I would suggest you do just because you might get a little confused. Plus there is a huge background story with the first one. In case you are wondering the order it is as follows: "Sisters Red", "Sweetly", and "Fathomless".

Yes they are the Twilight wolves lol
Rating: I give this book 5/5 wolves
